Habitat wall display. SLD group.
Theme for the term was Habitat. We looked at forests.
The class produced all of the wall display.
Painted, collaged grass.
Trees, painted, scratched in with forks, twigs from pipe cleaners, leaves from tissue paper.
Hedgehogs, painted, scratched.
Poly printed owls and birds of prey.
Joint dusk skies on rolls of paper covering the tables, using spinges, rollers, brushes, hands etc.
3D owls: papier mache bodies. rolled cardboard eyes. paint. feathers. googly eyes. pipecleaner feet. Kids LOVED them!
Habitat theme: PMLD group. Magic Nests.
Students start with the nest itself. It is a joint project. Walking in the forest, experiencing the smells, sounds and sights of Autumn. Collecting leaves, twigs and feathers. Exploring these materials.
making prints and marks on paper with them. add to these found materials with clay leaves and twig. Students experince clay and fashion pieces to fit into the nest.
Using forest colours; paint applied with sponges, fingers, rolling and brushes, the natural and clay nest materials, get some colour added.
Meanwhile, balloons are explored and blown. Next stage papeir mache. Warm water and glue. Shredding of paper; sounds, ripping, textures, students feel resistence. Colours are matched and sorted. papers, feathers, paints etc are collected to adorn the paper machied eggs. Et voila!
